2022 Bowman Chrome Draft Baseball Variations Guide
The 2022 Bowman Chrome Draft Baseball Variations give a handful of the year’s top picks as well as some other key prospects the SSP treatment.
A total of 15 cards have alternate versions with different photos on the front.
This is typical for most sets in the main Bowman line. However, the alternate images are often similar to typical photos so they don’t necessarily stand out like they do in Topps Baseball. That’s the case here with most flipping between batting and fielding shots.
Variations are available in all three 2022 Bowman Draft Baseball configurations, although at different odds:
- Hobby HTA – 1:247 packs
- Super Jumbo – 1:68
- Hobby LITE – 1:597
Ten cards also have autograph versions that are numbered to 99.
Two Ways to Confirm Variations on the Back
Like most Topps variations, you can look on the back and confirm whether you have a standard Bowman Chrome Draft card or one of the SSP variations. While the standard code method works, there’s a second giveaway that’s even easier.
For starters, there’s the CMP code at the end of the copyright fine print. The end of this code is different for different types of cards. These are the important codes to know for variations:
- Base Chrome – 310
- Variations – 346
If you’re not a fan of staring at blocks of tiny text, you can also look at the standard card number. 2022 Bowman Chrome Draft cards have the prefix “BDC.” Variations keep the prefix of the standard Bowman Draft (aka Paper), “BD.” Basically, if you have what looks to be a Bowman Chrome Draft base card and the card number starts with BD instead of BDC, it’s likely a variation.
