2022 Topps Garbage Pail Kids x MLB Series 1 Checklist and Details

2022 Topps Garbage Pail Kids x MLB Series 1 is both baseball cards and entertainment trading cards. Featuring art by Keith Shore, the set gives more than a dozen of baseball’s biggest stars and rookies GPK-inspired makeovers.

Available exclusively through the Topps website, the checklist also includes parallels, variations and a handful of other inserts.

2022 Topps Garbage Pail Kids x MLB Series 1 Checklist Overview

A total of 15 players are on the checklist including Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr., Aaron Judge and Mike Trout. But this is Garbage Pail Kids, so that means each has A/B name variations for a total of 30 cards in the base set.

For each, Shore takes an original Garbage Pail Kids gag and transfers it over to the player. For example, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is transformed into Adam Bomb/Blasted Billy.

Parallels come in eight levels:

Short printed C Name Variations for all 15 players are also randomly inserted.

Keith Shore appears on a pair of insert cards that land 1:10 packs. Autograph versions are 1:50.

Packs come with six cards — five base and one insert, parallel or Shore autograph. Individual boxes were $19.99 while lots of five were $95.

This isn’t the first time that Garbage Pail Kids and baseball players have crossed paths. In 2015, Topps included four MLB autographs in the year’s first Garbage Pail Kids set. Without the name or signature on the front, you’d likely have a hard time guessing who the players were but they are a source for on-card ink. The checklist features Manny Machado, Joey Votto, Josh Donaldson and Mike Piazza.

More recently, a couple of artists (including Shore) used the GPK line to inspire cards in the art-centric Topps Project70.
