The codes in the fine print on the card backs can tell you what you have. To check, simply look at the last three digits of the CMP code at the bottom of a card’s flip side. 2025 Topps Chrome Update Series Baseball Image Variations have a Refractor finish but are not classified as Refractors. Therefore, there is another tell on the backs of the cards for base Image Variations. On base Refractors, Topps spells it out for collectors with the word Refractor in small print below the card number in the upper right corner (as you can see on the Brooks Lee base Refractor example below).
That space is blank on variations, so if you have a card with the classic Refractor shine but no Refractor phrasing on the reverse, you probably have a variation.
