More than 50 players have 2025 Topps Chrome Baseball variations, which come from three different concepts that are all challenging finds for collectors.

The most plentiful variations are the annual short-printed Image Variations, which fall 1:169 hobby packs. Image variants have been a popular aspect of Topps Chrome Baseball for many years, and this year’s checklist includes 50 players.

These variations carry the same design as the base set and have a Refractor finish, but they utilize different photos that often feature the players away from the on-field action. Standard image variations also have six types of parallels that only cover those 50 cards, so if you have one of these sparkling parallels, you definitely have a variation card:

  • Green Speckle Refractors /99
  • Gold Speckle Refractors /50
  • Orange Speckle Refractors /25
  • Black Speckle Refractors /10
  • Red Speckle Refractors /5
  • Superfractors /1

Additional variations are Super Short Print Variations (10 cards) and Award Winners variations, which are numbered to /24 and feature the MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Cy Young Award winners from the 2024 season.

The SSPs are found once every 8,451 hobby packs, while the Award Winners are even tougher at 1:24,738 packs.

2025 Topps Chrome Baseball Variations Codes and How to Use Them

Want another way to spot one of the 2025 Topps Chrome Baseball SPs and SSPs besides the image on the front? The codes in the fine print on the card backs can tell you what you have. To check, simply look at the last three digits of the CMP code at the bottom of a card’s flip side. When it comes to variations, the three digits to know are:

  • Base Refractor – 426
  • Image Variations – 560
  • SSP Variations – 576

Another Way to Confirm Image Variations

2025 Topps Chrome Baseball Image and SSP Variations have a Refractor finish but are not classified as Refractors. Therefore, there is another tell on the backs of the cards. On base Refractors, Topps spells it out for collectors with the word Refractor in small print below the card number in the upper right corner (as you can see on the Juan Soto example below).

That space is blank on variations, so if you have a card with the classic Refractor shine but no Refractor phrasing on the reverse, you probably have a variation.

I was just trying to find out what kind of 2025 Topps chrome baseball have no color. More of a brown tint. Almost black and white versions. I got them in blaster boxes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pulled a Barry Bonds autographed 20/50 numbers live forever card. Refractor but silver. Wondering it’s worth.
