2018 Bowman Mega Box Lands as Target Exclusive — Checklist Added
2018 Bowman Mega Box cards offer a patterned spin on the year’s Bowman Chrome Prospects. Like last year, these special boxes are exclusive to Target stores.
Each 2018 Bowman Mega Box has a mix of five 2018 Bowman Baseball packs and two 2018 Bowman Chrome Mega Box packs not available anywhere else.
2018 Bowman Chrome Mega Box Overview
The main set inside the exclusive 2018 Bowman Chrome Mega Box packs consists of 100 prospects. This is smaller than the 150-card checklist in 2018 Bowman Baseball. These jump out quickly thanks to their patterned backgrounds.
Refractor parallels come in five additional colors: Purple (/250), Green (/99), Gold (/50), Orange (/25) and Platinum (1/1).
Ten players have variation short prints as well with different images.
Autographs are a big part of the Bowman package. 2018 Bowman Chrome Mega Box packs have them randomly inserted including Refractors.
A couple of regular inserts from 2018 Bowman Baseball get the Mega Box treatment as well: #Bowman Trending and ROY Favorites. That said, don’t expect the checklists to match up exactly as Shohei Ohtani is new to the ROY Favorites lineup.
The Bowman Mega Box made its debut in 2017. It was the first product outside of Japan to have cards of Ohtani (or Otani as they are spelled). He was shown in his national team uniform. After an initial run, the product disappeared from shelves before returning later in the fall.
Redemptions for Shohei Ohtani autographs were a surprise inclusion in 2018 Bowman Mega Boxes. That said, the redemption is good for a copy of the same Bowman Chrome Rookie Autograph found in 2018 Bowman Baseball. It’s not a new patterned version.

Wow this doesn’t look good for bowman lucky autograph redemptions If even this doesn’t have ohtani autographs. I bet the lucky auto redemption is a huge let down just like it was last year with Ian happ. Topps sure knows how to disappoint
I NOTICED THAT TONS OF PEOPLE ARE ALREADY SELLING 2018 MEGA BOX AUTOS, SINGLES, BOXES, ETC. I DIDNT THINK THESE MEGA BOXES ARRIVED AT TARGET UNTIL THE 23RD OF THIS MONTH? HOW DID THESE PEOPLE GET THEM ALREADY???
@Justin – They arrived early at some stores and were put out.
Every Mega Box that I opened had a pack with Schoop, Springer & Syndergaard in that order. Every box also had a pack with Votto, Rizzo & Goldschmidt in that order. Is this normal? Seems odd that every box has packs like this
@Justin that is pretty common in my experience. In 2017, I had several different blasters that had the exact same cards in them.
I’ve opened two Bowman Mega Boxes so far and NONE of the 5 regular packs had any inserts. Is that normally the case since the Mega Box packs are essentially all inserts? I was kind of surprised not to pull even the Bowman Birthday or #Trending cards.
@Craig — From what I’m hearing, it looks like the regular Bowman packs are different and only have Bowman and Bowman Chrome cards, no Refractors or other inserts.
Target Exclusive Mega Box is complete BS. I been to 8 different Target stores around NYC since the 23rd, not 1 box to be found. It’s ridiculous that so many people are selling the boxes 2,3,4x times the retail on ebay.
Been to 4 different Targets in the Orange County area. NO MEGA BOXES at any. Been back several times. Very frustrating.
They are not bunk, it’s just impossible to find. We have 6 Targets in our town and I went to each a couple of times per week and found that guys were going several times per day to each! Its going to be the same again this year.
I have also visited 8 Target stores in the Boston area and found no sign of Mega boxes?????
