2019 Panini Prizm Baseball sees the colorful chromium line return to the sport as a standalone set. It hasn’t been gone, but for the past couple of years it has been part of the anthology-style Panini Chronicles.
Just like other sports, color plays a major role in the checklist. But they’re not the only chase element. For example, autographs are three per 12-pack hobby box. There are other inserts, too.
2019 Panini Prizm Baseball Base Set Basics
The base set for 2019 Panini Prizm Baseball has 300 cards. All cards are done with Opti-chrome stock, giving even the base cards a certain level of shine. Speaking of levels, the checklist is broken down into three tiers, each with 100 cards (Tier I – #1-100, Tier II – #101-200 and Tier III – #201-300).
But each of those cards has more than 20 different Prizms parallels, making for a massive rainbow of colors and some patterns. In each hobby box, there are three Silver, four Blue and five Red Prizms. That works out to approximately one per pack.
Other Prizms include: Green, Blue Mojo, Lime Green, Neon Orange, Zebra Stripes, Power Plaid, Blue Wave, Shimmer, Navy Blue Kaleidoscope, Burgundy Shimmer, Gold, Forest Green Flash, and one-of-one Black Finite.
Also appearing in 2019 Panini Prizm Baseball are some retail-exclusive Prizms. Blaster boxes have a pack of four Purple Prizms while fat packs have a trio of Red, White and Blue Prizms not available anywhere else.
Hot boxes have 24 Prizms to call their own as well as either additional parallels or autographs beyond what’s normally expected.
Autographs and Inserts
Autographs can be found on a few different spots of the 2019 Panini Prizm Baseball checklist. The biggest is with Rookie Autographs, which has almost 100 cards.
Gameball Graphs center on other young players while Signatures has veterans with some additional retired stars mixed in.
Pro Penmanship is another place to find ink.
Like the base set, collectors can expect to find multiple levels of parallels with the autographs.
As far as other inserts go, 2019 Panini Prizm Baseball has several of them. Profiles and Color Blast have big color built into their designs. Both of these are among the toughest inserts in the product.
Other insert themes include Brilliance, Fireworks,Illumination, Instant Impact,Lumber Inc.,Machines, Numbers Game, Star Gazing, and Scorching.
The last time a standalone Prizm Baseball set came out was in 2015.

Just my opinion, but Panini is ruining a good thing by overproducing prizms in a multitude of different packaging. I don’t see how they can possibly hold value with 100’s of thousands being made. Hopefully collectors see this happening and don’t spend ridiculous money on these because there are plenty to go around and the prices will start falling to reflect that
I couldn’t agree with you more, Larry. There’s so many different levels of Prizms, that it gets to be too much. Unfortunately, I don’t see people catching on.
Talk about watering down, this product is completely soak. It is getting to the point where you start to loose interest when you have almost as many inserts as you do base cards. To mush to try and follow with this many inserts. I’ll buy a few packs just to see what they look like but trying to put some of those insert sets together will drive you nuts.
I do not understand all the negativity towards this product. Prizm cards have a nice stock that holds up well and does not curl like Topps Chrome or Bowman Chrome. Also, the autos have a nice clean look.
Any idea when Beckett will have prices for these?

Can anyone confirm if there were any “super short print” cards in this set?
I’m dealing with a seller on ebay who has stated the card is SSP but can’t provide a source and I am not finding anything on the net to support this claim.

I have been told that the Panini Prizm Draft Picks Red and Black Snakeskins Autographs are very rare, even though these cards are NOT serial numbered like the other verisons of these autographs. It was said that there are 25 or less of each of these, but I cannot see any substantiating articles to confrim this supposed fact.
@Steven – Panini has not released any print run info as far as specific numbers go for cards that aren’t serial-numbered, here or in Draft Picks.
I was hoping you could help me identify this card that I obtained. It appears to be a 2019 Phoenix auto’d and numbered card of Tatis. I’m having a hard time finding it on any checklist. Is this a Panini creation?
