2019 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Variations Guide and Gallery
Picking up where the first set left off, the 2019 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball variations come in a variety of forms. From Action Images and Color Swaps to Throwbacks and Error (and more), the short prints cover a lot of ground. And that’s been the norm for Heritage for several years.
Here’s an overview of what to look for while you’re busting 2019 Topps Heritage High Number packs and boxes followed by a more comprehensive checklist and gallery.
Action Image Variations
Base card images in 2019 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball are mostly a mix of posed shots and portraits. This is done to mimic the 1970 Topps Baseball set it’s based on. Action Image Variations change up the photos for something more dynamic. This is where you’ll see a switch to game shots.

Action Image Variations are exclusive to hobby packs.
Error Variations
Can something really be an error if it’s done on purpose? At any rate, this is where you’ll find mistakes. At first glance, these can be on the tricky side to spot. In the past these errors have been as small as a typo in the stats or a subtle color tweak. Thankfully, Topps has made it easy to know if you have one of these variations, even if you don’t know what the mistake is. We’ll get to that momentarily.

Nickname Variations
The premise for these is simple. The player’s name is replaced by another name they go by or people frequently call them.
All you need to do to spot a Nickname Variation is look on the front at who is featured on the card.

Team Name Color Variations
Another hobby-exclusive, Team Name Color Variations are on the tougher side to spot. The difference on these comes with the team name text on the front.
Short print versions change the color of the text for something different.

Throwback Uniform Variations
Throwbacks are among the most popular Topps Heritage variations, in large part because of their rarity. These SSP cards offer up a different photo, similar to Action Image cards. However, there’s a more defined theme here. Throwback pictures show players in commemorative uniforms from the past, usually from Throwback the Clock games.

Trade Variations
On the front, there’s nothing strange about Trade Variations. They look perfectly normal. The lone difference on these is a small one found in the player vitals on the back.
Variations have an added line about how the player was acquired in the box on the back.

The Easiest Way to Spot 2019 Topps Heritage High Number Variations
For the past couple of Heritage sets, Topps has been using a simple labeling system that takes all the guess work — and staring at fine print — out of confirming variations. And it continues here.
Under the card number, SSP cards say exactly what type of card they are. So no trying to figure out the error and no need to stare at tiny codes that aren’t supposed to be stared at in the first place.
It’s all right there in the open.

The Vladdy Jr. RC is very sharp – classic pose, iconic design!
Has anybody pointed out that it’s not an “error” if it’s done deliberately? Do those cards have “error” stamped by the checklist number on the back? Eye roll.
Error? No not an error. A differential SP more the word.
I am getting cards from the 18′ Topps Heritage High #.
The last 3 code # is 329. I can’t find any reference to these. Lopp
