1984 Topps Super Baseball Checklist and Details
1984 Topps Super Baseball blows up the flagship set. It takes the main set’s design and photos only with cards that are significantly bigger.

Although large in most regards, the checklist is much smaller. Just 30 players make the Super cut versus 792 in 1984 Topps. With the condensed nature, it’s virtually all notable names, particularly from the time of the product’s release.
Although Don Mattingly is absent, the year’s other major rookie, Darryl Strawberry, is not. Other highlights include Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken, George Brett, Rickey Henderson and a second-year Wade Boggs.

1984 Topps Super Baseball cards measure 4 7/8″ by 6 7/8″ while traditional cards are 2.5″ by 3.5″. Other than the dimensions, everything else about the set is the same as the one it’s based on. The layout and images all match up. The only design element that doesn’t is the card number.

Cards came in single-card packs with 36 in a box.
Wrappers included a mail-away offer allowing collectors to send away for missing cards. By sending six wrappers and $6, you could choose 12 cards. For $6 and no wrappers, collectors could pick six cards.
Today, cards are out there but they’re definitely tougher to find than the regular Topps release. Given Super’s oddball nature and dimensions, this shouldn’t be surprising.
