1980 Laughlin 300/400/500 Baseball Checklist and Details
1980 Laughlin 300/400/500 Baseball is a throwback set in more ways than one. For starters, there’s the checklist. Players come from the past with each being a member of either the 300 Win Club, .400 Club or 500 Home Run Club. In total, there are 30 players in the set including Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and “Shoeless” Joe Jackson.
The design is also a nod to the past. Cards are square, measuring approximately 3 1/4. Artwork comes from R.G. Laughlin for the player’s body connected to an out-of-proportion head shot stock photo. This creates an effect faintly reminiscent of the Goudey Heads Up cards.
Card backs are blank but there is a number on the front.
