The 1980 Indianapolis Indians Team Issue set was sold directly by the team. Originally costing $3.25, it features a 32-card checklist. Among them is the first Paul O’Neill baseball card, minor league or otherwise.
Cards measure 2 5/8″ by 3 5/8″ and have a simple design on the front with white borders and blue ribbons across the top and bottom for player names, positions and team info.
Backs are heavy on text, offering up stats, a write-up about the player, facsimile signature, vitals and several little tidbits to help fans get to know players a little better.
Like a lot of team issue sets, this one is relatively tough to find today.
