You can find baseball cards in a lot of places. Normally it’s packs. Once upon a time, you could find them at the bottom of a box of cereal. Sometimes they were on the box of cereal. For 1984 Topps Milton Bradley Baseball, it was inside of a board game.

The set came inside the Championship Baseball board game. The checklist has 30 cards, all of whom were active major leaguers at the time. Licensed by the MLBPA but not Major League Baseball, there are no logos. That means several airbrushed caps, although full team names are listed.

Backs have some basic player info including 1983 stats. However, the majority of the space is dedicated to different dice combinations. The basic concept of the game is that players would roll dice and move their players accordingly (and hopefully score some runs).

All 30 cards are included with the Championship Baseball board game. It includes lots of big names including Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson and Cal Ripken Jr. There’s also a second-year Wade Boggs.

This is an extremely affordable set today with even the top cards available for a couple of dollars. Even the game itself is reasonable, although you may want to check to see that all the pieces are there if you’re planning to play. All these years later, sealed games can be an option still as well.
