2025 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variations Guide
Any collector who rips open enough packs will eventually stumble on a base card that doesn’t look familiar, and chances are, that’s because it belongs to the one of the 2025 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variations.
In this guide, collectors can find a breakdown and images of variations found in packs of 2025 Topps Series 2, as well as some other base variations that Topps released through different avenues than hobby and/or retail boxes.
2025 Topps Series 2 Baseball Variations Overview
There are four primary variations to look for in 2025 Topps Series 2 Baseball:
- Golden Mirror (350 cards)
- Player Number (24 cards)
- All Positions (5 cards)
- Short-Printed RCs (3 cards)
Golden Mirror Image Variations
Many collectors are likely familiar with the Golden Mirror variations, but here is a rundown for those who may not know about them.
Now in their third year, the Golden Mirror cards are a rare variation that features a different photo than the player’s regular base card. Collectors should also note the gold foil Topps logo on the front of each card.

All that being said, the most distinguishing characteristic of Golden Mirror cards, however, is the golden background on the flip side.

The cards typically showcase a more “fun” style of photography, and while many Golden Mirror cards feature landscape photos and horizontal layouts, there are plenty of vertical options out there.

Collectors face steep pack odds to pull a Golden Mirror variation – 1:521 hobby packs. All 350 cards on the base checklist have a Golden Mirror card, making it a very difficult set to build.

All Positions Variations
Only five players in American and National League history have appeared at all nine positions in the same game.
And considering the first instance from Bert Campaneris occurred 60 years ago, Topps has paid tribute to those five players with special 2025 Topps Series 2 Baseball variations.
The All Positions cards have card numbers like any other base cards but are limited to only /9 examples. Regular base cards also highlight a player’s position on the baseball diamond layout in the bottom right corner, but these cards highlight all nine positions.

Players in the hobby-exclusive set are:
- 383 Scott Sheldon, Texas Rangers
- 442 Andrew Romine, Detroit Tigers
- 494 Shane Halter, Detroit Tigers
- 503 Cesar Tovar, Minnesota Twins
- 617 Bert Campaneris, Kansas City Athletics
The cards are also serial-numbered to /9 on the back.
Short-Printed Rookie Cards
The last three numbers on the 2025 Topps Series 2 Baseball checklist have two different players, so if you have card #698, #699, or #700, you may have a short-printed variation.
In the base set, those card slots belong to Boston’s Zach Penrod (698), San Francisco’s Hayden Birdsong (699), and New York’s Juan Soto (700), but alternate versions of those cards feature Houston’s Cam Smith (698), Chicago’s Matt Shaw (699), and Boston’s Kristian Campbell (700). The latter three players make up the short-printed rookie card checklist.

Player Number Variations
The easiest variations to spot are the 2025 Topps Series 2 Player Number Variations.
These 24 cards have images of a player’s number strewn across the front of the card and are serial-numbered to that jersey number on the front of the card. The high point is a /99 card of Spencer Strider, while the low point are /2 cards of Luisangel Acuña and Alex Bregman.

In total, there are only 638 combined examples of these cards seeded into Series 2 packs, so pulling one is not an easy task.

Big Apple Foil
While collectors will not pull these cards from hobby or retail packs of Topps Series 2, collectors searching for cards of their favorite player or team may ask themselves something like, “Why does this Seattle Mariners card have New York City in the background?”

The answer?
Because it’s a Big Apple Foil parallel.
Found exclusively in boxes promoted at Fanatics Fest in New York City, these foil cards include 100 players from Series 2. These have the same card numbers as the base cards and have five levels of parallels.
- Gold Foil /50
- Orange Foil /25
- Black Foil /10
- Red Foil /5
- Foilfractors /1

Companion Cards
While not a parallel or variation, these 25 cards do look like regular base cards at first.
Found exclusively in Superboxes of Topps Series 2, the Companion Cards are “friends” to the oversized Topps cards that come in Superboxes. They can be discerned by different images on the front (below, the Jarren Duran card on the left is his base and the card on the right is his Companion Card).

The Companion Cards also have different numbers on the flip side that start with a “CC2” prefix.
