2024 Topps Chrome Baseball Variations Guide
2024 Topps Chrome Baseball variations come in three varieties. All are tough pulls but each is a little different in their approach.
Standard Image Variations return. These have been connected to the brand for a while. These represent the majority of SPs in 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball. A smaller number of SSP Variations are also on the checklist. Finally, there are six Award Winner Variations that are extremely scarce.
Image Variations are just that. Like all three styles of short prints, they carry the same design as the base set. Actually, they look like base Refractors as they use the even shinier stock. The big difference is the photo has been swapped.
These also have six types of parallels:
- Green Speckle Refractors – /99
- Gold Speckle Refractors – /50
- Orange Speckle Refractors – /25
- Black Speckle Refractors – /10
- Red Speckle Refractors – /5
- Superfractors – 1/1

With all of these except Superfractors using the speckled background, they should be easy to identify.
While the regular versions of the Image Variations aren’t serial numbered, the odds suggest there are about 1,000 copies of each. They land 1:536 hobby packs and 1:163 jumbo packs, among others. Meanwhile, Green Refractors are right around 10 times as tough at 1:5,411 hobby and 1:1,645 jumbo. Image Variations are in other pack types as well with roughly the same multiplier. The numbers line up with other parallels as well.
2024 Topps Chrome Baseball SSP Variations have the same look. However, they offer a third image for select players. These don’t appear to have parallels and odds were not announced.
Finally, the Award Winner Variations. These have a unique background that’s easy to spot. The checklist for these is limited to the 2023 American and National League MVPs, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year recipients. These come serial numbered to 23.
2024 Topps Chrome Baseball Variations Codes and How to Use Them
Want another way to spot one of the 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball SPs and SSPs besides the image on the front? The codes in the fine print do the job. For these, simply look at the last three digits of the CMP code in the fine print. When it comes to variations, the ones to know are as follows:
- Base – 694
- Image Variations – 750
- SSP Variations – 762
- Award Winners Variations – 897

Another Way to Confirm Image Variations
2024 Topps Chrome Baseball Image and SSP Variations are Refractors. Knowing that offers another way to check if you have one. Like the codes, it requires a quick look on the back. Standard Refractor parallels say as much above the card number on the back.

Variations don’t, though. So if you have a basic “silver” Refractor base card and it doesn’t say “Refractor,” you might have one of the short prints.

Great Summary!
Judge also has an SSP – its horizontal and he’s wearing a suit and holding a microphone. You know, just the kind of image collectors really go after! (ugh)
Who at Topps is choosing these images???? So boring. Nothing in common. Nothing special about most of them. Just a wasted opportunity.

Sounds like a Lightboard Logo parallel. They’re on the full checklist here: https://www.beckett.com/news/2024-topps-chrome-baseball-cards/
Is it possible to send me a Topps dictionary of all Topps types of colors and variation from the 2024 Topps series one and two?
