2023 Topps Baseball Retail Factory Set Variations Guide
The 2023 Topps Baseball Retail Factory Set Variations are one form of bonus cards found in the pre-packaged complete sets. Consisting of five cards, these are found in specially marked box sets purchased at Target, Walmart or other non-hobby spots.
The checklist covers most of the top early-season rookies not named Corbin Carroll. They come as a bonus pack of five cards, meaning the five standard base cards are also in these sets.
These are not the same as the tough Golden Mirror Variations that cover the entire 660-card main set spanning Series 1 and Series 2. Rather, the retail factory set variations are not at all scarce. Each year, a lot of box sets are sold. They’re definitely not as common as the base cards as they’re not in packs, but to call them rare would be misleading.
How to Spot 2023 Topps Baseball Retail Factory Set Variations
Outside of the photo swap, there are a couple of ways to quickly spot a factory set variation using card backs.
The first is the home plate icon near the card number. Standard base cards say either “Series One” or “Series Two”. For the retail set variations, it says “Complete Sets”.
The CMP code in the fine print can also be used. Here the three endings you need to know are:
- Series 1 Base – 565
- Series 2 Base – 904
- Retail Factory Set Variations – 433
